Samsung Tests Matter Compatibility In Anticipation Of New Smart Home Standard

As part of the Samsung SmartThings Early Access Program, select strategic companies are being invited to test their first Matter-compatible products starting today.

This includes Aeotec, Aqara, Eve Systems, Leedarson, Nanoleaf, Netatmo, Sengled, Wemo, WiZ and Yale participation in the exclusive program. This will allow them the opportunity to test their devices and Matter interoperability with Hub-enabled devices, as well as via the SmartThings app. In addition, partners can seamlessly integrate devices with the SmartThings app.

Samsung is confident that Matter will become the de facto standard for all smart homes worldwide. The company has invested heavily in Matter, and says that it will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Samsung announced at the annual Samsung Developer Conference that Matter will offer a wide range of connectivity options for Galaxy devices, TVs, and Family Hub appliances. By incorporating SmartThings hub functionality into these devices, users will be able to take advantage of the benefits of connected living without needing to set up a separate hub.

Matter will launch later this year, but the Partner Early Access Program has allowed better access and awareness on SmartThings. The increasing demand for interoperable, flexible, and private smart home solutions will make mass smart home adoption for most consumers an eventuality.
