Samsung Releases Lighthearted Ramadan Short Film

The start of May signals the halfway point of the month of Ramadan. It’s a time when Muslims practice religious observance to strengthen their faith and self-discipline, abstaining from all pleasures and eating and drinking throughout the day.

As Malaysians, we have always learnt to respect and be grateful for our multicultural, multi-racial, and multi-religious society. We understand that through kindness, tolerance and respect we can help foster a more cohesive and peaceful Malaysian society.

Samsung Malaysia has released a short film called “Takpe Lah” which is a phrase that we Malaysians commonly use to undercut the seriousness of an act or circumstance. The video portrays the ‘great lengths’ that non-Muslim co-workers sometimes go to as a means to shield their Muslim colleagues from witnessing them eating or drinking during the day.

Sometimes our hectic work schedules can cause us to be oblivious to the sacrifices and hardships of those around us. But in our inclusive society, we need to constantly remind ourselves that in whatever we do, we are in it together.
