4 Reasons Why You Need A Chromecast
March 10, 2020Android equipped Smart TVs are commonplace in most homes. They extend the functionality of a television by offering streaming and mirroring capabilities. There’s an app for just about every streaming service on the market.
But the problem with Android Smart TVs has to do with the hassle of navigating the clunky UI and the use of an overly-complicated remote control. I’m here to tell you that there’s a better way to stream content on your TV – use a Chromecast.
And in case you didn’t know, Chromecasts are USB Stick sized devices that enable users to stream content on their phones, tablets and web browsers to their TVs. They provide standard dumb TVs with added functionality.
Here, in 2020, Chromecasts are considered old tech. But the level of productivity that they offer are unmatched by the most sophisticated Android Smart TVs. Here are 4 reasons why you should have a Chromecast:
#1 Your phone is the remote
No matter how good a TV remote may claim to be, it’s no match for the touch input of a smartphone. Rifling through various movie genres or shows on Netflix is extremely helpful. In addition to this, while a movie is playing on your TV, your smartphone acts like a mini screen, allowing you to browse other content while you decide what to watch next.
#2 Anyone can cast content to the TV
Instead of everyone in the room clamoring to grab hold of the TV remote, with a Chromecast, any smartphone that is on the same WiFi network can stream content to said TV. If you’ve found something interesting on YouTube and would like to share it with everyone, just cast it, it’s that easy!
#3 Regular Updates
Chromecasts receive timely updates from Google as and when necessary. This is far more reassuring than having to wait on individual Smart TV manufacturers to roll out their own custom updates. And some them of loose interest in supporting older devices very quickly.
#4 Planned Obsolescence
Every device has a fixed service life. And this is true for Smart TVs as it is for Chromecasts. Eventually, your TV manufacturer will stop pushing updates to your device. And over time, the aging OS may not be able to accommodate the newer version of your apps.
This will happen to a Chromecast as well. But, the cost of replacing a Chromecast is a fraction of what it would cost to purchase a brand new TV.
