Microsoft has introduced a stunning, or two, new laptops that will replace its existing line up. Called the Surface Laptop 3, it comes in two sizes, namely, a 13.5-inch and 15-inch version. Both are being offered with a new colour option called Sandstone which joins the line up of Matte Black, Cobalt Blue (13-5-inch only) and Platinum.

That’s not all, there are two keyboard options to choose from as well, there’s the same textured finish as the previous generation model, but now, Microsoft is also offering the Surface Laptop 3 with a metal one too, which looks pretty good. Unlike the previous model, if the textured keyboard doesn’t tickle your fancy, and instead of looking elsewhere for a similar device, you can now opt for the Surface Laptop 3 with the new metal keyboard.

The smaller 13.5-inch laptop will be powered by either a 10th Gen core i5-1035G7 or an i7-1065G7 chip while its bigger brother will be offered with the same Intel options but buyers can also choose to have either an AMD Ryzen 5 3580U with Vega 9 Graphics or a Ryzen 7 3780U with RX Vega graphics. Storage options include 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB M.2 NVME SSDs. Surprisingly, the 15-inch option comes with a maximum of 512GB of storage, half that of its smaller sibling.

USB-C and USB-A ports are available as standard but that is as much as you get for such a thin and light device. Microsoft boasts that these new devices are equipped with fast charging and are able to offer all-day battery life. The 13.5 inch laptop will weigh 1.31kg while the bigger unit is a little heavier at 1.54kg.

Both laptops come with Microsoft’s PixelSense Touch display but the 13.5-inch laptop has a resolution of 2256 x 1504 (201 PPI) and its bigger brother sports a resolution of 2496 x 1664 (201 PPI). Though these devices are just incremental upgrades over last year’s model, they are welcomed additions nonetheless. Expect to see these new devices to hit shelves soon.
