Google Chrome Update Adds Convenient Tab Sorting Features

We have some good news for Chrome users. The latest update adds new features that make it little more convenient to arrange and sort browser tabs. If you’re like us, then you’re probably used to having multiple tabs open at any given time. The tedium of having to rifle through them to find what you want, can be time consuming.

These are some of the new features that have been added to help with workflows:

Share exactly what you want

Now, when you share an article or content with someone, Chrome lets you select the text that you’d like them to see. When they open said link, Chrome will direct them to exactly what you highlighted. Previously, this wasn’t the case and probably resulted in many heated arguments between two parties about which part to read.

To use the new function, here’s what you have to do:

  1. Highlight the text you’d like to share
  2. Right-click and select Copy link to highlight
  3. Provide this link to the other person. Said link can shared just about anywhere including an email or message thread.

Search for the right tab

If you have many tabs open in a single window, finding the right one can be inconvenient. But this can be avoided by using the Chrome tab search function. To use it, click on the “down” arrow at the top right-hand corner of the chrome window. It’s positioned to the light of the “minimize window” button. The search function should pop-up. Type in the relevant keywords.

You can now change the entire look of the Chrome browser by selecting one of several color schemes that are available. They are specific to each user profile, so if you have more than one profile, Chrome lets you choose a different theme for each one.

To do this, open a new chrome tab, and at the bottom right of the screen, select the ‘Customize Chrome” option. The browser should then let you choose to change the vanilla look of Chrome.

Other Useful Chrome Features

Create tab groups

Google chrome will not let you group related tabs together. To do this, right click on the relevant tab and select “Add tab to new group. Click New Group if you don’t already have one or click the name of an existing tab group. This will immediately bring group the selected tabs together while pushing the rest of them further down the row. The grouped tabs will have the same color.

Rename a Group and Customize colors

You can rename each group of tabs to whatever you’d like. To do this click on the colored circle of the grouped tabs and enter the name of the group. You can also pick another color to make things a little easier on you.
