Google has released official images and details regarding its upcoming Pixel smartphones. In recent years, the company has been releasing two devices annually. For 2021, we will see the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro launch event sometime in September or early October.

These are premium looking devices are a stark departure from what we are used to seeing from the Search giant. The Pro features a polished aluminum frame while the 6 gets a matte aluminum finish. The cameras have been fitted into a special housing at the top section of the phone.

It’s called the camera bar and it houses the newly designed sensors and sensors that Google says were too big to be integrated into the phone’s body. Great emphasis has been placed on AI, so we can expect to see better photography features and HDR+ content.

The duo happen to be the first Google devices that feature the company’s home-baked silicon SoC. Called the Tensor, it is optimised to run computational photography models. It will also rely quite a bit on artificial intelligence and machine learning to fill its role as the heart and soul of the new phones.

But that isn’t all, the new and improved software will work hand-in-hand with the hardware to deliver better speech recognition, transcription, translation, photography and task-crunching computing power.

Google says it will reveal more about these phones in the coming months. This includes hardware specifications, features and software that will tie together to create the company’s most advanced and nicest looking phones to date.
