LG plans to make a big splash at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 with the introduction of a new lineup of audio products. This includes its premium Soundbar, the S95QR which has an output of 810W and 9.1.5 channel surround sound. The system has 5 up-firing channels, three are on the soundbar while the other two are in the separate rear speakers.

The S95QR has a center up-firing speaker, which is supposed to be a first for the industry. It provides for a clearer dialogue and boosts Dolby Atmos as well as DTS:X content. This coupled with IMAX Enhanced, lets users enjoy a 3D soundscape for compatible content.

LG has made a few tweaks to improve the S95QR’s overall performance in the form of new speaker drivers, speaker chambers and subwoofer. Larger woofers deliver better audio quality with deeper bass. The wireless rear speakers have been upgraded from 4 to six channels with four front/side drivers and two up-firing ones.

These rear speakers can distribute sound evenly across a 135-degree space. The soundbar itself has a more sensitive receiver that allows for more distance between it, the subwoofer and rear speakers without effecting sound quality. Since it uses Meridian Audio’s Horizon technology in Music Mode, the S95QR can up-mix two channel audio to 7.1 channels.

Improvements have also been made to the wireless technology, which helps eliminate drops or lag in audio output. The soundbar also features variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM). This is supposed to allow content on the TV and sound emitted from the soundbar to be perfectly in sync.

The LG S95QR also works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and other AI assistants. And when connected to smart devices, you can control music streaming, adjust volume or change sound modes with voice commands.

If you can’t stand the sight of cluttered cables, LG’s WOWCAST Wi-Fi audio dongle can wirelessly support lossless multi-channel audio transmission between your TV and soundbar. That’s not all, A single LG remote can be used to control both the soundbar and your compatible LG TV, for a more convenient user experience.

Lastly, the S95QR supports AI Room Calibration, which can tailor sound output to suit any given space to deliver more accurate low-frequency audio. Starting January 4 (PST), visitors to LG’s virtual CES booth can experience the best of LG’s audio gear including the S95QR.
