You Can Now Use The Same WhatsApp Account On Up To 4 Devices
April 27, 2023WhatsApp is trying to make things a little easier for everyday users. It’s introducing the ability to use the messaging app with multiple devices while signed into a single account. The company says that with this highly requested feature, you can link up to four different devices, which works in the same way as when you link it on web browsers, tablets and desktops.
Each linked device connects to WhatsApp independently, so your messages, media and calls are end-to-end encrypted. However, if your main device/phone is inactive for a long period (duration not specified), WhatsApp automatically logs you out of all other linked devices. This is probably a safety feature to prevent your account being used by others.
Since all these devices are linked, you can switch between them and access the same chats and conversations without interruptions. This feature also works on WhatsApp business. Employees who use a single Business account can respond to customers directly using a linked device, instead of having to share the primary one.
This new feature is being rolled out to users around the world now, but it may take a few weeks before it becomes available to everyone. But that isn’t all, because in the coming weeks, WhatsApp is also introducing an alternative method to link phones/devices. Once available, you only need to enter your phone number on WhatsApp Web to receive a one-time code.
This code can be used on your phone to enable device linking instead of the current method of scanning a QR code. The company believes that said improvement will make it more convenient for us to access the newly released feature.
