EV owners in Malaysia can now use the Setel app to locate charging stations, identify the type of charger and activate said charger. It’s a move that the mobile payment company intends on using to foster “inclusive and greener mobility”.

Payments for charging are automatically deducted from the Setel wallet and users also earn Mesra points with every transaction. JomCharge is the first provider to come onboard but the company hopes to include Engergise by PETRONAS in the near future.

The following is a list of locations that can charge your EV and pay for said service via the Setel app:

  • Lotus’s Tesco Kepong
  • EV Connection Workshop in Petaling Jaya
  • Carsome PJ Automall
  • Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort in Penang
  • ACO Group’s headquarters in Johor Bahru

Speaking of said integration, Mazlin Erawati Ab Manan, Chief Executive Officer of Setel said, “Driven by the rising adoption of EVs in Malaysia, we aim to make public charging infrastructure more accessible and enable convenient charging for EV users, replicating the seamless refuelling experience Setel currently offers to all motorists.”

Setel app can also be used at regular petrol stations to fuel your internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. The app is free to download for iOS and Android and Huawei devices. Visit www.setel.com for more information on the platform.
