WhatsApp Now Lets You Have Multiple Accounts On Your Android Phone
October 20, 2023WhatsApp has finally introduced the ability to have multiple accounts on the same phone. Formerly a pipe dream for people who prefer to compartmentalize their social and professional circles as well as for other reasons, the messaging service now offers this flexibility with one caveat. You’ll need to have two separate SIM cards/phone numbers.
Your Android phone (multiple accounts not available yet on iOS) will also need to support said multi-SIM or eSIM operation. To enable multiple WhatsApp accounts, head to WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to your profile name and select “Add Account”. The company says that once enabled, you will still be able to control the privacy and notification settings of each account, separately.
It also stresses that you should only use the official WhatsApp app or program at all times and never resort to using imitation or third-party ones to access the multi-account feature. As long as you use the official ones, your messages continue to be always kept secure and private.
