BlackBerry Limited has announced that Chinese electric carmaker WM Motor has selected its QNX® Neutrino® Realtime Operating System (RTOS), QNX® Software Development Platform (SDP 7.0), and QNX® Hypervisor to power its advanced W6 SUV model.

With this deployment, the W6 will become even safer, marking another milestone since both companies announced in December that BlackBerry with QNX® software had been selected for WM Motor’s third-generation of SUVs. W6 is powered by a cloud computing cloud-computing system capable of processing 10 million trillion operations per second is able to autonomously perform specific parking maneuvers.

The model was developed using highly advanced electronic systems, an advanced silicon computer architecture, and a 5-G-enabled baseband. W6’s advanced digital cockpit dramatically reduces the time needed to process information, and the system’s enhanced depth of data capture allows it to precisely recognize the subtle needs of the users.

Designed with flexibility and scalability in mind, the W6 is fitted with the most advanced chip technology and the highly reliable QNX Neutrino RTOS and QNX Hypervisor. On a single hardware platform the team can run multiple operating systems across multiple hardware platforms, reducing both the development time and maintenance costs while providing the highest levels of functional safety and security.

“BlackBerry has a tradition of innovation and security rooted in operating systems, making it a trusted partner in the automotive industry,” said Dhiraj Handa, VP, Asia Pacific region. “We are pleased to continue our partnership with WM Motor as they begin the process of introducing advanced automotive technologies that cater to the different needs of consumers.”

“WM Motor is a forerunner of the China’s new energy vehicle market, providing an affordable, environmentally friendly, reliable, and safe mobility experience for our customers,” said Freeman Shen, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of WM Motor.

As WM Motor moves forward, it intends to provide additional driverless scenarios to include open road ADAS. These scenarios will offer the smart vehicle connectivity experience to mass-market customers and provide reliable, safe transportation.
