Xiaomi has collaborated with AMD to release a 14 laptop, dubbed the Redmibook 14 Ryzen edition. Its supposed to be an “enhanced” edition of the standard Redmibook 14 due to the performance from the AMD Ryzen 7 3700U processor. Based on the Zen 2 architecture, the 3700U is a quad-core chip with 8 threads and a max boost clock of 4GHz.

The Chinese manufacturer says that the Ryzen edition offers decent price to performance ratio and is able to offer 10% increase in overall performance over the standard laptop that it is based on. Coupled with the RX 10 Vega graphics, Xiaomi says this new laptop is able to deliver on the business, entertainment and gaming fronts.

There’s also a high-performance cooling system, which consists of a large fan and efficient air outlets that offer good air flow for cooling under heavy loads. The case is made from metal, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the Macbook Pro. But the narrow bezels (5.75mm) that house the 14-inch FHD IPS display, give it a clean overall look.

A first for a Redmibook, is the addition of the MiDrop function, which allows for file-sharing between PCs and smartphones. The name sounds “vaguely” similar to that oof a feature offered by another laptop manufacturer. thanks to the quick charge feature, this laptop can be charged to 50% in 35 minutes, but, on a single charge you should be able to get about 10 hours of battery life.

Xiaomi says that when in standby mode, the Redmibook 14 consumes very little power, which may help improve battery life when on the move. The laptop supports Mi Smart Unlock 2.0 as well as several other features. At the moment, it looks like this laptop will only be available in China but that might change in the near future.
