Google Provides Full Coverage For News Topics In Search

Google is making it easier for users to get up to speed with the latest news and relevant topics. Full coverage was a feature reserved for Google News, where content on a certain topic is tabulated to provide extensive coverage to the user. Now, that same feature is making its way into the Search section too.

When searching for information on a developing story, there will be a carousel of articles at the fop of the search results. This area highlights relevant news that might be of interest to you. After scrolling towards the end of new top stories, users can select Full Coverage or by tapping on “More News on…”, which is below the carousel.

This will then take you the latest list of articles and content that are important to you. The technology that drives this feature is able to detect long-running stories that span days, weeks or months. This includes coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, sports events and several others.

Google says that Full Coverage in Search is available today on mobile devices for English in the US. However it will be made available for more languages and locations in the coming months. This is welcomed news considering how many of us rely on online platforms such as Google News to condense the top stories into a single and easy to read list of articles.
